Big A, Adam Dewain Hargett was born on August 11, 1979, to his loving and devoted parents, Doug and Kim Hargett. Big A departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 30, 2026. He fought the good fight and finished the race, receiving a wonderful reward, even though it was not the outcome for which we had prayed.
Funeral Service remembering his well lived life will be held at 1 PM Wednesday June 3, 2026, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with dear friends, Bro. Clay Stegall and Bro. Chris Shinall officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday evening June 2, 2026, at the Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery with no graveside services.
Big A was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He loved all genres of music and faithfully served in the sound booth at church. Whether at church, on a job site, or in the stands at a Pine Grove Panthers sporting event, Big A was always there to support and encourage others. He was especially proud of his children and could often be found cheering them on, along with the many young people he loved and claimed as his own. Some of his greatest joys were spending time hunting and fishing with his boys, Tucker and Tanner, making memories that will be cherished forever. And when it came to his daughter, Layla Kate, Big A was her biggest fan. There was nothing he loved more than watching her shine, and she held a special place in his heart.
A perfectionist by nature, Big A took pride in a job well done. Whether preparing a house pad, completing a landscaping project, or working on a road crew, he approached every task with dedication and determination. He especially enjoyed operating heavy equipment, a career he pursued for many years before stepping away from the road to spend more time with the people who meant the most to him—his family.
More than anything, Big A will be remembered for the way he loved others. He never met a stranger, and his willingness to help, encourage, and stand beside those he cared about made him a friend to many. He was deeply loved by his family, treasured by his friends, and respected throughout the community. To Tucker, Tanner, and Layla Kate, he was more than a father—he was their hero, their biggest supporter, and their whole world. His absence will be felt by countless lives he touched, and he will be missed more than words can express.
