Billy Lorenzo Medford

Billy Lorenzo Medford, 95, resident of Ripley MS, passed away Thursday August 8, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

Graveside service at Peoples Cemetery will be held at 1 PM Sunday August 11, 2024, with Bro. Jody Hill officiating.

Mr. Medford was born April 30, 1929, in Tippah County the only child of the late Walter and Alma Davis Medford. He was a graduate of People's High School and married April 6, 1945, to his beloved wife of 68 years, Billie Ruth Medford who preceded him in death on March 1, 2014.

A member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Medford was a dedicated MATA bus driver with The City of Memphis for 32 years before his retirement. In 1984 he received a safety award by the National Safety Council for his excellent service. In later years, Mr. and Mrs. Medford returned to Tippah County where he was employed as a school bus driver with the North School District for 5 years.

Those left to honor his memory include two sons, Wayne Medford (wife Beth) of Mobile, Al. and Ronnie Medford (wife Linda) of Tanner, Al. Six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
