Birdie Quinn Garrison Obituary

Birdie Quinn Garrison, 87, resident of Dumas, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday evening, July 12, 2023 at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Garrison will be at 12 Noon Saturday, July 15 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Cody Matlock officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon at The Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery near Ripley.

Mrs. Garrison was born August 30, 1935 in Tippah County, the daughter of the late Roy Rodric and Willie Oswalt Quinn. She received her education in the Dumas Public School System and was married on September 28, 1956 to her beloved husband, Charles Linley Garrison who preceded her in death February 6, 2002.  Residing in Florida throughout her adult life, Mrs. Garrison was employed in the Hospitality Industry for more than 50 years before returning to Tippah County.

A longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Mrs. Garrison will be remembered as a devout Christian who read her Bible daily, loved her church and church family.  She was an outspoken, giving person who enjoyed quilting, tending to her yard and cooking, especially baking cakes for every occasion. Blessed with a large family, Mrs. Garrison knew family was important and was known as "Grandma" to her grandchildren and everyone in the community.

Precious memories will continue to be shared by her daughter, Linda Larson of Dumas, four grandchildren, Nick and Craig Larson, Chris and Danielle Garrison, five great grandchildren, three sisters, Jo Nell Jeter (Wade) and Betty Quinn, both of Ripley and Mattie Thunderburk of Dumas and one brother, Jimmy Quinn (Kay) of Ripley.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Lynn Garrison, one grandson, Jake Larson, four sisters, Virginia Robbins, Dorothy Dobnikar, Kathryn Adair and Mildred Swenkoske and five brothers, Junior, Thomas, Charles, James Edward and Leroy Quinn.
