Doris Kathryn Hopkins

Doris Kathryn Hopkins, 70, resident of Ashland, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County following an extended illness. Funeral Services for Ms. Hopkins will be at 1PM Tuesday, July 25 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Hodoe officiating. Visitation will be from 11AM to 1 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hopkins Cemetery near Ashland.

Ms. Hopkins was born May 5, 1953 in Bolivar, TN, the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence McCollum Swinford. She received her education in the Middleton Public School System and was owner of Oak Hill Personal Care Home in Ashland.

A Christian, Ms. Hopkins attended Gentry Chapel Church as long her health permitted. The family will remember her as an outspoken, hard-headed lady but yet, tenderhearted. Favorite pastimes included traveling, auctions and searching for bargains at Dirt Cheap and First Monday.

Memories will continue to be shared by a daughter, Tonya Grady (James) of Branson, MO, one sister, Helen Marie Gooch, two grandchildren, Mallory Michelle Grady and Israel Tello, and one great grandson, Adrain Grady and her loyal canine companion, "Rosebud".

She was also preceded in death by her husband of  30 years, "Smokey" Hopkins, a daughter, Krystal Tello, a sister, Ruby Vanstory, and her brother, Daniel Swinford
