Funeral Services honoring Mr. Johnston's life will be 2 PM Sunday, October 15, 2023, in the Heritage Chapel of The Ripley Funeral Home with his brother-in-law, Bro. J. R. Cousins officiating. Visitation will be 12 Noon until Service Time on Sunday October 15, 2023, in the Heritage Chapel of The Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tippah Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Johnston was born September 4, 1940, in Tippah County to the late Pauline Wilbanks and J. E. Johnston Jr. He received his education from Ripley Public School and was married May 2, 1970, to his beloved wife, Mrs. Twila Carroll Johnston who survives. Mr. Johnston was a hardworking man who truly believed in providing for his family. He was manager of the sewing department at Foot Caress for 20 years before serving as manager with Coca Cola 20 years before his retirement.
A Christan and southern Baptist, Mr. Johnston enjoyed attending Community Baptist Church with his wife, "looking around" First Monday Trade Day for old tools and raising goats. He loved all of God's Creation and being in it as much as possible. Family meant everything to Mr. Johnston, and he took great pride in being "Pa" to his much-adored grandchildren. His life made a difference to all those whom he was blessed to know. Well done good and faithful servant.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, those left to cherish his memories include two sons, Mark Johnston (Emily) and Stacey Johnston, one sister, Linda Cousins (J. R), one brother, David Johnston (Lynette), and four grandchildren, Anna Reese (Bailey), Micah Johnston, Maria Johnston, and Megan Johnston.
He is also preceded in death by a brother Wayne Johnston and a sister-in-law, Nadara Johnston.
