James Leroy Hobson

James Leroy Hobson, 73, resident of the Tiplersville Community and proud United States Naval Veteran, passed away in the comfort of his home Thursday morning September 6, 2018 following an illness of several months.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Hobson will be at 3 PM Tuesday September 11 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Steve McKee officiating. Private burial will be at Harmony Cemetery in Walnut.
  Born December 2, 1944 in Alcorn County, he was the son of the late W. V. and Willie Mae Price Hobson. Mr. Hobson was a 1962 graduate of Walnut High School and continued his education at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
  Mr. Hobson was married December 24, 1964 to his devoted wife the former Linda Kay Bullock, a long time employee of Wal-Mart in Ripley, who survives. A Christian and of the Baptist faith, Mr. Hobson was first employed at Thyssen-Krupp Corporation in Middleton and later served as a Sort Technician for Fed-Ex Corporation for 15 years before his retirement in 2015.
  Mr. Hobson proudly served his country overseas during the Vietnam War Period from 1967 until 1973 before returning to the Tiplersville and Walnut communities where he resided much of his life. He will be remembered for his passion for History and reading about various cultures throughout the world. He possessed a great love for his family and the outdoors.
  Visitation for Mr. Hobson will be Tuesday from 1 PM to 3 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  In addition to his wife of 53 years, he leaves two sons, James Brett Hobson of Tiplersville and Special Agent Alex Scott (Aya), now proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force and stationed in Tokyo, Japan and one grandson, Vincent Hobson.
  He was also preceded by his loyal canine Westie, "Coconut".
  The family request that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
  The American flag at The Ripley Funeral Home entrance honors Mr. Hobson and all Veterans for their service to our country...GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
