Jerry Lane Hellums, age 80, peacefully exchanged this earthly life for his Heavenly home on Thursday, January 28, 2026, at his residence in Pontotoc, Mississippi, surrounded by the comfort of the home he so dearly loved.
In honoring his wishes, Mr. Jerry will be cremated, and no formal service is scheduled at this time. The family sincerely appreciates your continued prayers and thoughtful expressions of love during this season.
Born on October 29, 1945, in Mississippi, Jerry was the son of the late Dave and Gladys Bishop Hellums. He received his education from Randolph High School and, on April 27, 1974, married the love of his life, Mrs. Patricia Collums Hellums, who survives. Together they built a life rooted in loyalty, quiet devotion, and the kind of steady love that only deepens with time
A dedicated and faithful worker, Mr. Jerry spent many years employed at Walmart, where he worked stocking shelves until his retirement. He approached his job the same way he approached life — with consistency, humility, and a willingness to do whatever was needed.
A Christian man who treasured the simple blessings of each day, Jerry found his greatest joy at home with Patricia by his side. He was content in the comfort of familiar walls, a favorite chair, and the glow of the television. He rarely missed an episode of The Price Is Right, enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, and was always ready to settle in for whatever else might be on. Life didn’t have to be complicated for him to be happy.
Those who knew Jerry will remember his outgoing spirit, easy humor, and straightforward nature. He had a way of making ordinary days feel lighter and conversations feel easy. He was genuine, kind-hearted, and comfortable being exactly who he was.
In addition to his beloved wife, Patricia, cherished memories will continue to be shared by his brothers, Danny Hellums and Nick Hellums, along with a circle of extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Max Hellums and Terry Hellums.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the quiet love, laughter, and steady presence he brought into the lives of others will never be forgotten.
