Joann Stark Duncan Obituary

Joann Stark Duncan, 91, resident of Tippah County, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Diversicare and Rehabilitation Center in Ripley.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Duncan are private.

Mrs Duncan was born July 21, 1931, in Tippah County to the late John Whitfield and Lessie Zola Mauney Stark. She recived her education from People's School and was married to her beloved husband, N. T. Duncan, who precedes her in death. She was a valued employee of Genseco Co. for most of her life and after her retirement she owned and operated a sporting goods store and Catalog Outlet in Ripley.

A Christian and known as someone who "never let the dust settle on them", Mrs. Duncan grew up working and her foundation was built on a very strong work ethic. Blessed with talented hands she put in many hours tending to her vegetable and flower garden, sewing, and cooking delicious meals. She doted on her family and was happiest when sharing time with them. She lived a long and full life, and although her family will miss her dearly, they are so grateful for the laughs, tears, and love they shared with her.

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Susan West (Danny Todd) of Ripley, one son, John Duncan of Blue Springs, six grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by one son, Norman Duncan, one sister and two brothers.
