John David Booker

John David Booker, 82, resident of Memphis and native Tippah Countain, passed away Thursday evening May 31, 2018 at the Magnolia Creek Health & Rehabilitation Center in Covington, TN following an extended illness.
  Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Booker will be at 2 PM Friday June 8 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Richie Hatcher of Palmer Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Palmer Cemetery near Ripley.
  Mr. Booker was born April 25, 1936 in the Palmer Community of Tippah County. He was the oldest child born to the late John Pegram (J.P.) and Mary Gladys Roberson Booker. Mr. Booker received his education at Palmer High School and was a valued employee of Electric Storage Battery in Memphis before his retirement.
  A Baptist, Mr. Booker was a colorful character with a pleasant personality. An active person who loved the outdoors, his pleasures included drinking coffee and "shooting the bull" with his friends.
  He will be remembered as a beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
  Visitation for Mr. Booker will be from 1 PM to 2 PM Friday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Survivors include his children, Sharon Fry (Jim) of Collinsville, OK, Lisa Booker of Memphis and Richard Booker (Glenda) of Millington, TN, three sisters, Frances Brown (Eugene) of Blue Mountain, Rita Harrison of Pryor, OK and Ellen Boehm of Vandalia, MO , four brothers, Wayne Booker (Meriel), Clarence Alton Booker (Barbara) and James Booker all of Ripley and William Brent Booker of Southaven, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, the mother of his children, Elizabeth Carter Valentine and a host of nieces and nephews.
  Mr. Booker was also preceded in death by a sister in law, Patsy Booker.
