Larry Wade Young Obituary

Larry Wade Young, most lovingly known as Wade to all who knew and loved him, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, as he peacefully departed this earthly life at Diversicare Health and Rehabilitation, surrounded by the love of his family.

Visitation for Mr. Wade will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Monday, May 25, 2026, at the Ripley Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring and celebrating his life, along with a memorial remembrance for his late mother, Mrs. Zilpha Davis, will be at 1 PM Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home. Bro. Jesse Curter and Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon will officiate the service, with Wades burial following in Little Hope Cemetery, and Mrs. Zilpha's in Tippah Memorial Garden. There will be no graveside service.

Born March 8, 1957, in the old Tippah County Hospital, Mr. Wade was the son of the late Robert “Bob” Young and Zilpha Reeves Davis. He began his education in the South Tippah School District before later graduating from Cody High School in Detroit, Michigan. A hardworking and intelligent man, Wade built a successful career owning service stations and trucking businesses before his retirement.

In May of 1984, Wade married the love of his life, Mrs. Loretta Kay Orman Young, and together the two built a life centered around family, faith, and unwavering devotion to one another. Their marriage was one filled with love, laughter, and loyalty, and though separated here on earth, the two are now reunited together again in Heaven.

A Christian man with strong values and convictions, Wade believed in doing things the right way. He knew the Bible inside and out, studying Scripture faithfully and taking pride in understanding the Word of God with accuracy and wisdom. To those around him, Wade seemed to be a master of all things. No matter the problem, his children knew he would either have the answer or quickly figure out a solution. He was one of the very best advice givers, and even when his children did not always listen at the time, they later realized just how right he had been.

Among his favorite pastimes were keeping up with Fox News and then making sure his children were informed on current events as well, watching old westerns alongside his morbidly obese and faithful canine companion, Hector, and taking every opportunity possible to enjoy a good nap.

Mr. Wade was truly one of a kind. Intelligent, knowledgeable, dependable, and always willing to lend a helping hand, he was the very best dad, “Papaw Wade,” brother, and friend anyone could ask for. His absence leaves an ache that words cannot express, yet his legacy will continue to live on in the lives he shaped and the countless lessons he shared. Every time his family faces a problem needing solved, hears a piece of good advice, or simply enjoys a peaceful afternoon nap, they will forever be reminded of Wade Young.

Those left to carry on his remarkable legacy include his daughters, Christina Watson (Jay) and Brittany Cissom (Nathan); his sons, Rob Young (Atlee) and Justin Young; his brothers, Cecil Young (Ginger), Floyd Young (Dianne), Matt Young (Debbie), and Mark Young (Angie); his sister, Chrissy Ann Young; his grandchildren, Kyle Brock (Veronica), Kelsey Moore (Landon), Caleb Young (Alexis), Emma Young, Anna Grace Young, Parker Cissom, Eva Cissom, and Khloe Young; his great-grandchildren, Ella Faith, Kayson Bradley, Evie Rose, and Eason Gray; his beloved canine companion, Hector; along with extended family members and a host of dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Wade was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Loretta Kay Orman Young, and two brothers, Jesse Young and Adam Young.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Nathan Cissom, Parker Cissom, Jay Watson, Kyle Brock, Caleb Young, Landon Moore, Shane Young, and Steve Bramlett.
