Leoffie Gates Taylor, 91, resident of Ripley, passed away on January 31, 2024, at Tishomingo Manor. She was born September 4, 1932, in Tippah County Mississippi to Lee Van and Clemmie Glissen Gates and was a founding member of Emmanuel Holiness Church. She worked for Foote Caress Shoe Company and retired from Walmart after 20 years of service.
Funeral Services honoring the Life of Mrs. Taylor will be 1 PM Saturday February 3, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Eugene Taylor and Bro. William Kirkman officiating. Visitation will be 10 AM until Service Time on Saturday at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Peoples Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor was a Godly woman who loved her family, her church family, gardening, eating out, especially at Muddy Creek, the infamous Chuck Wagon Gang, and loved to sing gospel music.
She leaves behind two children, Judy Taylor Wright (Monroe) from Iuka MS and Joey Taylor (Amanda) from Ripley. Grandchildren are Monty Wright, Emily Wright Trim (Randy), Nicholas Taylor, Nathan Taylor and great-grandsons, Zeppelin Winter and Atlas Wright. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Gerald Taylor and a close cousin, CB Gates.
Leoffie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Vance Taylor, her mother and father, three brothers, William (Buck) Gates, Marshall Elmer Gates, and Billy Clyde Gates.
