Lisa Fay Miller, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, caregiver, friend, and neighbor, left her earthly home on August 9, 2023 after a battle with cancer.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Lisa will be at 11 AM Saturday, August 12 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday, August 11 and will continue from 9 AM until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Lisa, the only daughter and youngest child of parents, Kenneth ‘Kroger’ and Geneva Walker, was born on November 24, 1965. Her parents instilled a strong sense of family and faith which she continued to grow in her own marriage. After graduating from Pine Grove High School, she married her sweetheart, Phillip, on June 11, 1983. Together, they built their life together in ‘Hatchie’.

Lisa was a member of Paynes Chapel Community Church. Her faith was important to her and she demonstrated her love of Christ through her selflessness and genuine care for others. She was quick to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. Whether it was helping with projects, delivering groceries or stopping by for a laugh-filled visit, Lisa’s acts of kindness left a lasting impression on all the lives she touched. Her love for others was woven into the very fabric of her being.

Lisa’s nurturing spirit carried beyond her own family. She was a caretaker for several children. She spent many years caring for Savannah (Ralph) Meeks, Brandon Ralph, Kristen (Bridges) McVey, Hannah (Loveless) Anglin, Matthew Elliott and Megan Elliott. She was quick to say these were her children and she treasured them beyond measure. Most recently, she was overjoyed to be another ‘grandmother’ for Daxten and Idaleigh Kayte McVey and Lucas Wayne “Bitty Boy” Meeks.

In the last 18 years of her life, Lisa found yet another family with her bosses, co-workers, and customers at Food Giant in Ripley. The aisles became more than just a workplace and her compassion extended beyond the cash register. When she asked you, “What are you doing?” or “How have you been?”, it was because she genuinely cared.

Lisa was tenacious and strong-willed yet caring and unwavering in her devotion to others. In the last few months, her visitors, family and friends, provided her smiles, joy, and comfort as she bravely faced her illness.

The family would like to thank the community for all their visits, cards, flowers, messages, and calls, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Sanctuary Hospice House. Your love and kindness was truly appreciated.

In addition to her husband, loving memories will continue to be shared by two brothers, Billy Walker (Wanda) and Jimmy Walker (Jennie), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth “Kroger” and Geneva Walker, her in-laws, Herman and Helen Miller, her brothers David Walker and James Walker, sister-in-laws Pam Walker and Cathy Hill, nephew Chris Walker, and special son-in-law, Keith Foster.

The Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories.
