Lurley Mae Rogers Frost Obituary

Mrs. Lurley Mae Rogers Frost, resident of Alabama, departed this earthly life and entered into her Heavenly Home on Friday evening, April 17, 2026, at her home in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

Funeral services honoring this precious lady’s life will be held at 1 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home, with visitation from 11 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Tippah Memorial Gardens, with no graveside service.

Born on April 1, 1937, in Tippah County, Mrs. Lurley was the daughter of the late James and Velma Jeans Rogers. She received her education through the Mississippi Public School System before devoting her life to the roles she cherished most—that of a loving wife, nurturing mother, and compassionate caregiver. Throughout the years and the many places life carried her, her heart remained anchored in her home, where love was always present and freely given.

A devoted pastor’s wife, Mrs. Lurley stood faithfully beside her husband in ministry, offering quiet strength, encouragement, and unwavering support. She was a guiding light to her family, instilling strong Christian values in her children and leading by example in both word and deed. In addition to her calling at home and in the church, she faithfully served others as a Certified Nursing Assistant, spending many years caring for the elderly with tenderness, dignity, and grace.

A saved Christian and a true Proverbs 31 woman, Mrs. Lurley exemplified a life of faith and devotion. As a faithful member of New Life Tabernacle Church, she found great joy in studying God’s Word, praying daily, and living a life that reflected her deep and abiding love for her Savior. She was gifted in many ways—whether playing instruments, singing hymns of praise, or making her home a place of warmth and beauty—but her greatest gift was the love she poured into her family.

Her three boys were truly the light of her life. She delighted in every moment spent with them—whether fishing, traveling, or simply riding along on the back of a four-wheeler—creating memories that will be treasured forever. She was ever-present, always willing, and endlessly devoted.

Even in the midst of her journey with dementia, Mrs. Lurley never lost sight of her faith. In moments of uncertainty, her heart remained steadfast—often preparing herself for church, ready to go and worship the Lord she so dearly loved. Her faith was her anchor, and it carried her through every season of life.

While her presence here will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that Heaven rejoiced as she entered through those pearly gates. There, she has been made whole—free from pain, worry, and sorrow—embraced in eternal peace, surrounded by love, and reunited with those who had gone on before.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted son, Steve Mathis and his wife Karen, who faithfully stood by her side; her grandson, Bryan Mathis (Stacy); her three step-grandchildren; and her caregivers who became like family, Judy Miller and Sandy Talley, along with the compassionate nurses of Southern Care New Beacon Hospice. The love and care shown to Mrs. Lurley and her family will never be forgotten.

Welcoming her into her Heavenly Home include her beloved husband, Sam Frost; her sons, Hal Mathis and Gary Mathis; her sisters, Hermie James, Jeanette Roberts, and Hester Mathis; and her brothers, Robert Rogers, Cleo Rogers, and Johnny Rogers.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tim James, Brayden Houston, Dewayne Cartee, Tim Hodges, R. J. Ginn, and Dylan Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Mathis, and Trevor Hardy.
