Martha L. Burns Russell, 79, resident of Blue Mountain, passed away peacefully Monday, January 15, 2024 in the comfort of her home. There will be a private family service, per Mrs. Russell's request.
Mrs. Russell was born July 29, 1944, in Tippah County, one of twelve children born to the late Dan and Louise Aston Burns. She received her education in the Blue Mountain Public School System and was a homemaker throughout her life. A Christian, Mrs. Russell's life was devoted to the family that she adored. A dedicated mother, "Mamaw", sister and friend, she leaves behind many cherished memories for her family and friends to remember for the years to come. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is rejoicing in her heavenly home now.
Memories will continue to be shared by her daughter, Kathy Russell (Mike), one granddaughter, Courtney Tidwell (Hunter), one great grandson and love of her life, Russ Tidwell, four sisters, Mary Elizabeth O'Callaghan (Bill), Teresa Davis (Wayne), Sherry Miller (Windell) and Lisa Boye (Rick), three brothers, Roger Burns (Judy), Richard Burns, and Neil Burns (Patricia).
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Leroy Russell, two sisters, Beverly Paxon and Sharon Burns, two brothers, Danny Burns and James Burns.
