Born November 26, 1945 in Osceola, AR, Mrs. Raney was the last surviving child of the late Sam and Orilla Henson Jones. In Tippah County on December 12, 1968, she married her beloved husband, the late Harry E. Raney who preceded her in death on August 17,1984. A homemaker, John Wayne fan and avid quilter, Mrs. Raney's physical limitations did not hinder the joy she received from sewing and creating beautiful quilts and quilt tops for her family. She enjoyed the outside by watching her chickens scratch, was delighted in the beauty of nature and the loyal companionship of her canine, "Rosco". Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Mrs. Raney did her best to fulfill the important roles of her life. All who knew her look back fondly on a life well lived.
Memories will continue to be shared by two daughters, Lori Ann Bass (Ronnie) of Ripley, Billie Ruth Barber (Rickey) of Corinth, one son, Charles R. Raney (Susan) of Blue Mountain, two granddaughters, Mary Lavon Cisson and Susan Barber, six grandsons, Derek Raney, Rickey E. Barber, Todd Barber, Billy Barber, David Barber and Neil Bass, and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Earwood, a stepson, James Raney, a sister, Birtie Taylor, two brothers, Robert L. Jones and Miron E. Jones, two sisters in law, Mary H. Jones and Willene Jones and brother in law, Willie L. Taylor.
