Oleta “Ruth” Null Barnes, 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Mississippi Care Center in Corinth, MS.
Funeral services will be held at County Line Baptist Church in Walnut on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 2 PM. Visitation will be 11 AM until time of service with Bro. Wayne Cornett officiating.
She was born on December 29, 1940, in Walnut, Mississippi to the late Johnny and Vola Ernest Null. A graduate of Chalybeate school, Mrs. Barnes worked at Foot Carress and Magnolia Hospital in Corinth as a nurses’ aide for many years.
Mrs. Barnes found enjoyment in crocheting, especially dresses for Barbies, reading her Bible and books from her two favorite authors, Nora Roberts and William Johnstone. Known for her green thumb, she effortlessly nurtured a variety of flowers, indoor succulents, aloe vera plants, and the many Magnolia trees she had planted in her yard. Mrs. Barnes will greatly be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Martindale (Doug) of Walnut, one son, Charles “Dennis” Weathers, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Sandy Weathers.
Her family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers of Mississippi Care Center and Vital Caring Hospice for all the love and care shown to “Mama O” over the past eight years.
