Rachel Carlene Rowland

On Monday morning, May 6, 2024, Rachel Carlene Rowland, 88, resident of Corinth, passed away peacefully at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth following a brief illness.

Visitation for Mrs. Rowland will be from 9:30 AM until service time at 11 AM Thursday, May 9 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Bro. Clay Hall will officiate, and burial will follow in Tippah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Rowland was born May 23, 1935, in Ripley, the daughter of the late Edward Mathis and the late Pearl Childs McRae. She was a graduate of Falkner High School and was a valued employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years before retiring.  A Christian and very independent woman, Mrs. Rowland was a fan of archery, motorcycles, gardening, deer hunting and listening to Elvis Presley music.

Loving memories will continue to be shared by one daughter, Sharon Jackson (Bobby Joe), one son, Ron Rowland (Vera), both of Corinth, a granddaughter, Kylie Jones (Donnie), a great grandson, Atlas Jones and her loyal canine companion, "Anna."

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Corbette Rowland, a grandson, Dylan Rowland and three brothers, Billy Mathis, Wayne Mathis and Jerry "Tiny" Mathis.
