On Sunday, December 28, 2025, Rebecca "Becky" Johnson James, 60, resident of Ripley, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett following an extended illness.
A Celebration of Life will be at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 17 at The Pentecostal Church in Blue Mountain located at 4600 Hwy 15 S, Blue Mountain, MS 38610, with Donald Aydelott officiating.
Born on April 7, 1965, in Hayti, MO, Becky was the daughter of the late Vester Junior and Martha Faye Aydelott Johnson. She received her education from Holly High School in Holly Springs, Mississippi and was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant until her health began to decline. A "people person", Becky was passionate about her community and being able to help others. Through her trials on earth, she maintained a peace beyond all understanding which she always attributed to trusting her faith, family and friends. Those who knew Becky will remember her sweet spirit and zest for life. She leaves many cherished memories for her family and friends to remember for many years to come.
Those left to treasure her memory include her daughter Erin Whittamore of Memphis, a sister, Debra Palmer of Ripley, four brothers, Randy Johnson of Ripley, Steve Johnson and Gary Johnson both of Holly Springs and Joshua Johnson of Corinth, four grandchildren, Vanessa, Gabriel, Sophia and Ilene Whittamore and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Vester Junior Johnson, her mother, Martha Faye Aydelott, and one brother, Roy Johnson
