We are gathered to celebrate the life of Neva Sue Green Carter, who passed on March 28, 2023 in her home in Ripley at the age of 87.
As a devout Christian, Mrs. Carter served First Baptist as a daycare teacher for 15 plus years, helped with VBS, and taught Sunday school for 50 years. She also served her community by volunteering as a cub scout leader and 4H leader for many years. She spent her pastime babysitting all her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and known to many as “Granny”.
She is survived by her three sons: Trent (Belinda) of Ripley, Phillip of Memphis, and Jarrett (Janelle) of Memphis. Three grandchildren: Anna Cockrell (Jerry), Corbin Carter (Kristin), and Abby James (Cody) all of Ripley. Six great-grands: Zoey Mauney, Rhylea Kate Cockrell, Baxter and Laine Carter, and Carter and Livi James all of Ripley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Baxter and Donie Corbin Green, nine siblings: Zena Moore, Floyd Green, Vera Gurland, Ila Vines, Catherine McKee, Evelyn McCombs, Oneida Wakefield, Janette Green, Lowell Green, and her husband of 45 years, Donald Lewis Carter.
