Winfred "Buddy" Lyles Obituary

Winfred Lyles, 88, affectionately known as "Buddy", departed this life on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hosptial in New Albany surrounded by his loved ones.

A Graveside Service honoring Buddy's life will be at 2 PM Friday, June 7, 2024, in Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Lamar, MS with Bro. Shane Bramlett officiating and a visitation from 11:30 PM until 12:30 PM at the Ripley Funeral Home.

Born July 4, 1935, in Mt. Plesant, MS, Buddy was the son of the late Paul and Lelia Creasie Lyles. He received his education from Mt. Pleasant School and was a farmer all of his life. He helped multiple people with their crops and was known for being the best tractor driver around.

A Christan, Buddy enjoyed the outdoors and always looked forward to being in God's creation. From riding backroads, to watching westerns, and chewing tobacco, he always had a smile on his face. He loved his family tremendously and there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them. Today we know Buddy is experiencing all of the wonderful things God has prepared for him and although he will be missed, we will always cherish his loving nature, simple ways of living, and true friendship.

Those left to cherish his memories include one daughter, Kandy Joy Bridges (Amp), three sisters, Mary Skelton, Bobbie Lynn Mathis (Bobby Joe), and Judy Jeanes (Danny), two brothers, Charles Lyles (Irma), and Robert Lyles, his grandchildren, Windy Lyles, Coby Bridges (Andrea), Whitney Bridges, Brittney Bridges Mayo (Michael), Johnathan Lyles (Peni), Stephanie Cothern (Leon), and Stacie Bramlett (Shane), his great grandchildren, Taylor Bridges Hunt (Walker), Baleigh Bridges, Caden Bridges, Cailtyn Bridges, Hannah Snow Mayo, Bennett Wade Mayo, Dustin Lyles (Kelsey), Aaron Lyles, Chloe Cothern, Ava Cothern, Jacob Bramlett, and Katie Bramlett, and his great great grandchildren, Grayson Hunt, and Paislee Lyles.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Winfred Carl Lyles (Sissy).

Those serving as pallbearers will be Leon Cothern, Coby Bridges, Johnathan Lyles, Dustin Lyles, Aaron Lyles, and Jacob Bramlett.
