Bro. John Wayne King, 75, native of Tippah County, retired Baptist Pastor and beloved husband of Gladys Thomas King for 52 years, passed away Thursday morning November 17, 2016 in Sevierville, TN.
  Services honoring the life of Bro. King will be at 2 PM Saturday, November 19 at Middleton First Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Waddle, Bro. Samuel Cox and Bro. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Falkner. The Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
  Born May 29, 1941 in Luxora, AR, Wayne, as everyone knew him, was the son of the late John Franklin and Mamie Vandegriff King. Moving to Tippah County with his family, Wayne was a graduate of Center High School , served in the US Army and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Blue Mountain College. On February 21, 1964, Wayne married Gladys Ruth Thomas. Bro. King pastored churches in Mississippi and Tennessee for over 32 years before his retirement.
  He loved traveling, especially in the mountains, and enjoyed time with his family cherishing the moments with his wife that he loved dearly, his girls and his grandchildren,getting into mischief with them . He will be remembered for his generous spirit and always wanting everyone to feel welcomed and loved.
  Visitation will continue Saturday from 12 noon until service time at Middleton First Baptist Church.
  Those also left to honor his memory are his daughters, Missy Davis (Paul) of Meridian, Bobbie Cox (Sam) of Middleton and Sherie McDowell (Keith) of Falkner, a brother, Calvin King of Ripley, 6 grandchildren, Katie Davis, Sarah Cox Blair (Jacob), Jonathan McDowell, John Michael Davis, Joshua Cox , Cindy McDowell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
  The family request that memorials be directed to Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
