 Dema "Dee" French Short, 83, a resident of the Ripley and Ashland Communities for a number of years before recently moving to Princeton, KY to be near her family, passed away peacefully Saturday evening September 9, 2017 at Caldwell Medical Center in Kentucky following a extended illness.
  Services for Mrs. Short will be at 2 PM Wednesday September 13 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Howard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Little Hope Cemetery near Falkner.
  Born July 26, 1934 in Dawson Springs, KY, she was the daughter of the late Archella and Minnie James French. Mrs. Short was a graduate of Butler High School in Princeton, Kentucky and a former resident of Sweetwater, TX. She was married December 24, 1979 to the late Bob Short, a retired siding contractor, who preceded her in death on May 2, 2002.
  A Christian, Mrs. Short was known for her independence and straight forward remarks. She will be remembered for her love of reading, crocheting, painting and watching her hummingbirds.
  Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 Noon until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Wendy Keefer, (Damon) of Try, IL, Sherri Cooper and Lisa Hawkins, both of Princeton, KY, Tiny Smith and Schlone Lawder, both of Artesia, NM and Vicky Pennington of Ripley, TN, a son, David Lawrence of Pittsburgh, PA, two sisters, Gloria Newman of Hobert, IN and Wanda Babb of Bloomington, PA, a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
