 Gus Howell "Dunk" Duncan III, 70, lifelong resident of the Ripley Community and affectionately known by his many friends as "Dunk", passed away peacefully Friday afternoon September 8, 2017 the comfort of his home following a brief illness.
  Services honoring the life of Mr. Duncan will be at 3 PM Sunday September 10 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Cohea and Dr. Micah Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Rucker Cemetery near Ripley.
  Born July 27, 1947 in Tippah County, he was the son of the late Gus Howell, Jr and Dorothy "Dot" Pickens Duncan. Dunk received his education in the Tippah County School System and was employed in Corporate Management for the Oil-Dri Corporation until his retirement four years ago. On January 25, 1973 he married his beloved wife, the former Judy Harris, who survives.
  A member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, he will be remembered for his strong work ethic during his 44 years as a loyal, dedicated employee of the Oil-Dri Corporation. An avid outdoorsman who loved nature, Dunk enjoyed Bass fishing, Duck Hunting and Deer Hunting.
  One who loved his family, with a special love his grandchildren, Dunk was an amazing gentleman who was consistently happy and had a contagious smile. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
  A visitation for family and friends will be Sunday from 1 PM until 3 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  In addition to his wife, Mr. Duncan is survived by two daughters, Sonia Walters (Danny) of Dyersburg, TN, Ginger Vick (Eric) of Ripley, his son Shane Duncan (Christie) of Ripley, a sister, June Covington (John) of Philadelphia, MS, a brother, Charlie Duncan (Pam), of Ripley, his grandchildren, Kerri` Webb, D.J. and Dylan Walters, Reiley Duncan, Alissa and Noah Vick and four great grandsons.
  Active and Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Cook, Ken Freeman, Homer Richardson, Tony Brady, Brad "Spanky" Brooks, Chuck Duncan, J.R. Linville, Fred Enis, Kevin Jones, Mike Johnson and Bobby Brannon.
