Jerry Don "Don" Nelms

Jerry Don Nelms, 67, retired independent painting contractor, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 in Walnut following an extended illness. Funeral services for Don will be at 2 PM Friday, Oct. 16 at Harmony Baptist Church at Walnut with burial in Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  A native of Alcorn Co. and longtime resident of Walnut, Don received his education in the Kossuth Public School System and was an avid NASCAR and Dale, Jr. fan. He enjoyed camping and family trips to the TN River.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin C. Nelms and Dathel Russell Nelms, a sister, Maureen Nelms and brother, Curtis Nelms.
  Don leaves his former wife, Mary Christine Hayes of Corinth, his son Donald Wayne Nelms of Walnut, his sisters, Yvonne Rowsey (Lonnie) of Corinth, Annette Holtzlander of Walnut, his brother, James Nelms (Mary Lela) of Walnut and 2 grandsons, Jarrod and Christopher Nelms.
  A visitation was from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, Oct. 15 at the Ripley Funeral Home and will continue at the church 1 hr. prior to services.
