Sallie Lou Greer Vandergriff

 Sallie Lou Greer Vandergriff, 95, resident of the Pine Grove Community, lifelong Tippah Countain and beloved wife of the late J.T. Vandergriff, found peace in the arms of her Saviour Tuesday morning November 29, 2016 at the Tippah County Hospital following a brief illness.
  Services honoring the life of Mrs. Vandergriff will be at 2 PM Thursday, December 1 in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Floyd, pastor of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and assisted by her great nephew, Bro. Kevin Hatfield of Marietta. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Tippah County.
  Born February 27, 1921 in Tippah County, she was the last surviving child of the late John David and Ethel Moore Greer. On July 7, 1941 Mrs. Vandergriff began 60 years of being happily married to her life companion, John Thomas Vandergriff, a patriotic Army Veteran who served his country during World War II. Mr. Vandergriff died January 13, 2002.
  Mrs. Vandergriff was known as a lady with strong work ethics and worked alongside her husband on their family farm for many years before retiring.
  A longtime member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, she will be remembered for her good cooking and southern hospitality.
  Visitation will continue Thursday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Though she and her husband had no children of their own, they loved and were loved by many nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Viola Vandygriff, Mamie Lee Thomas and Ora Vandygrif and 4 brothers, Clarence, Andy, Johnny and Luther Greer.
  Sallie Lou family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that she received at at Tippah County Hospital for the 3 weeks she was there. Dr. Cappleman, the nurses, aides and everyone there were so good to her and treated her with such tenderness and love. She got the best care possible.
  Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Billy Joe Vandygriff, David Vandygriff, Steven Thomas, Justin Greer, Vince Richey and Keith Hatfield.
