Mildred "Dee" Wilbanks Bass, 84, resident of the Walnut-Alcorn Communities and wife of the late Cecil Eugene Bass, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon October 21 2016 at Magnolia Regional Hospital in Corinth following an extended illness.
Services honoring the life of Mrs. Bass will be at 2 PM Sunday, October 23 at the Hatchie Chapel Church near Walnut with Bro. Clay Hall and Bro. Floyd Crum officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Ripley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born January 13, 1932 in Alcorn County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Julie Willingham Wilbanks. On October 22, 1949, "Dee" married Cecil Eugene Bass, a former sawmill operator, who died October 14, 2014. A native of Alcorn County, Mr. and Mrs. Bass moved to Walnut 7 years ago to be closer to their daughters. A devoted homemaker, "Dee" was an active and faithful member of Hatchie Chapel Church as long as health permitted. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning and cooking for her family.
Visitation for Mrs. Bass will continue Sunday at the church.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Margie Delagrange (Gary) and Marie Mercer (Hollis), both of Walnut, a former son in law, Obb Uselton of Memphis, 3 grandchildren ( Nancy Uselton, Tina Smith and Chris Mercer), and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 7 sisters, Lessie Bass, Elvie Wilbanks, Velma Foster, Thelma Reed, Joyce Burrow, Irene Rutherford and "Little Jo" Wilbanks and 2 brothers, Troy and Johnny Wilbanks.

The Ripley Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bass family and invites you to sign the guestbook and share memories
