Billie Doris Sexton, 83, resident of the Walnut Community and lifelong resident of Tippah County, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening October 11, 2016 at her residence near Walnut surrounded by her loving family.
  Funeral Services for Mrs. Sexton will be at 2 PM Thursday October 13 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with burial in Tiplersville Cemetery.
  Born October 8,1933 in Tippah County, she was one of 16 children of the late Limon and Josie Shaw Barnes. She was a lifelong member of Tiplersville Baptist Church and received her education from Chalybeate School.
  Mrs. Sexton was married September 17, 1948 to Ray Daniel Sexton, who died June 8, 1980. Mr. Sexton was a proud US Army Veteran who served as a Prisoner Of War during World War II.
  Mrs. Sexton was a devoted mother and homemaker and also employed by McGregor Company in Walnut and Foot Caress in Ripley before her retirement. She loved the outdoors, fishing and camping excursions with her family.
  Visitation will continue Thursday until service time at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Butler (Charles) and Mary Jo Gibbons, both of Walnut, her sisters, Annie Vandavendier, Mildred Grisham, Kay Youngblood and Carolyn Bradshaw, 8 grandchildren ( Johnny, Gary Ray and Michael Hopper, Amanda Wilkerson, Liz Williamson, Dawn Hilliard, Josh Gibbons and Autumn Sexton), 11 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Steve Sexton, son in law, Terry Wayne Gibbons, 5 sisters and 6 brothers.
