 John Tate Rogers, Sr., 84, resident of the Pine Grove Community and husband of the late Marla Jane Williams Rogers, passed away Sunday evening August 13, 2017 at his daughter's home in Ripley.
  Funeral Services for Mr. Rogers will be at 2 PM Monday August 21 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery near Ripley.
  Born April 7, 1933 in Ripley , he was the son of the late Hilley Albert and Mattie Crawford Rogers. Mr. Rogers received his education in the Tippah County School System. He moved in earlier years to Memphis where he was employed as a Service Technician for the Sears Corporation. Mr. Rogers returned to his native Tippah County after the death of his wife in 1990 and operated the All-In-One Heating and Air Service in Tippah County for 10 years before his retirement
  A Christian, Mr. Rogers was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church at the time of his death. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors that included fishing, horseback riding and training horses. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, riding with friends and various motorcycle club members until six years ago. In earlier years he will be remembered as a professional wrestler in MS, AR and TN and was known by the wrestling world as "The Mask Marvell".
  Visitation will be one hour prior to the Funeral Service Monday at The Ripley Funeral Home.
  Survivors include his children, Debra Lynn Rogers and John Tate Rogers, Jr., both of Ripley, and two grandchildren, Johniann Brown and Justin Tate Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, two sisters, Artie Taylor and Virginia Covey, a brother, Marian Cole Rogers and a grandson, Joshua Tate Rogers.
