 Rachel Adella Thomas Smithey age 70 and wife of the late Edward Wayne Smithey , passed away peacefully Tuesday March 14, 2017 at her residence in Booneville.
  Funeral Services for Mrs. Smithey will be conducted at 2 PM Friday March 17 at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Myrtle with Bro. T.M. Wiginton, pastor of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Enterprise Cemetery in the West Union Community near New Albany. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
  A native of New Albany, Mrs. Smithey was born October 26,1946, the daughter of the late James Paul and Trannie McKeown Thomas. She received her education in the Union County Public School System and was a homemaker for much of her life. She was the wife of Edward Wayne Smithey who died January 3 of this year. Mr. Smithey was well known in the Union, Tippah and Prentiss County areas as a siding installer who operated Smithey Siding Company for over 42 years before his retirement.
  Mrs. Smithey was a Christian and will be remembered as a family oriented person who was always available to help others, both friends and family. She had a love for her pet dogs, Sassy and Peanut that were always by her side.
  She is survived by her children, Rhonda Nelson (Brian) of Cornersville, Michael Kiddy (Amy) of Myrtle , David Kiddy of Myrtle and Gary Kiddy (Kim) of Conehatta, MS, a sister, Shirley Davis of Myrtle, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, a great granddaughter and 2 sisters.
